چکیده
DEFINITION OF FOOD ALLERGY — In this section, the terms "allergy" and "hypersensitivity" are used interchangeably to refer to an abnormal immunologic reaction to food. Such reactions can be mediated by IgE molecules directed against specific food proteins that activate mast cells and basophils, or can arise from other cellular processes involving eosinophils or T cells. (See "Clinical manifestations of food allergy: An overview".)

Predictors of childhood food allergy: significance and implications.
BACKGROUND Food allergy is common in children, and its occurrence is strongly associated with other allergies including anaphylaxis. Both genetic (e.g., CD14, STAT6, IL-10, SPINK5, and FOXP3 genes) and environmental (e.g., early exposure to highly allergic food) factors appear to contribute to food allergy. METHOD Cross-sectional study involved children in public primary schools in Al-Ain cit...

The present study aimed to assess the relationship between neonatal icterus and/or phototherapy and the likelihood of childhood asthma among Iranian population. متن کاملThe Natural History of Food Sensitization in Children With Atopic Dermatitis and the Prognostic Role of Specific Serum IgE
Background: The natural history and the prognostic factors for food tolerance in childhood atopic dermatitis (AD) are poorly understood. Objective: We aimed at investigating the natural course of egg and milk allergy in children affected by AD and food allergy and identifying if the persistence of allergy is associated with high specific serum IgE (sIgE). Methods: The retrospective study includ...

Identification of the most common food allergens is a priority in any population to provide effective preventive and curative measures. Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the most common food allergens in Iranian children. Methods: One hundred and ninety children with skin, respiratory or ga...
متن کاملThe Natural History of Food Allergy.
On a population level, it is well recognized that some IgE-mediated childhood food allergies, such as milk and egg allergies, are more likely to resolve than others, such as peanut and tree nuts allergies. Unfortunately, some studies suggest that resolution rates may have slowed compared with impressions from past decades. The clinician can apply the knowledge of the epidemiology of these aller...
